【摘要】:Thispracticeoutlinesaproceduretostandardizeaninstrumentandtousetheinstrumenttoexamineferromagneticwireropeproductsinwhichtheelectromagnetic,magneticflux,magneticfluxleakage,oranycombinationofthesemethodsisused.Ifproperlyapplied,theelectromagneticandthemagneticfluxmethodsarecapableofdetectingthepresence,location,andmagnitudeofmetallossfromwearandcorrosion,andthemagneticfluxleakagemethodiscapableofdetectingthepresenceandlocationofflawssuchasbrokenwiresandcorrosionpits.Theinstrumentrsquo;responsetotheropersquo;fabrication,installation,andin-service-inducedflawscanbesignificantlydifferentfromtheinstrumentrsquo;responsetoartificialflawssuchaswiregapsoraddedwires.Forthisreason,itispreferabletodetectandmark(usingset-upstandardsthatrepresent)realin-service-inducedflawswhosecharacteristicswilladverselyaffecttheserviceabilityofthewirerope.1.1Thispracticecoverstheapplicationandstandardizationofinstrumentsthatusetheelectromagnetic,themagneticflux,andthemagneticfluxleakageexaminationmethodtodetectflawsandchangesinmetalliccross-sectionalareasinferromagneticwireropeproducts.1.1.1Thispracticeincludesropediametersupto2.5in.(63.5mm).Largerdiametersmaybeincluded,subjecttoagreementbytheusersofthispractice.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
