【摘要】:Thispracticedevelopstreatmentfactorsthatshallbeusedbyfireretardantchemicalmanufacturerstoadjustbendingstrengthdesignvaluesforuntreatedplywoodtoaccountforthefire-retardanttreatmenteffects.Thispracticeusesdatafromreferencethermal-loadcyclesdesignedtosimulatetemperaturesinslopedroofsofcommondesigntoevaluateproductsfor50iterations.Thispracticeappliestomaterialinstalledusingconstructionpracticesrecommendedbythefireretardantchemicalmanufacturersthatincludeavoidingexposuretoprecipitation,directwetting,orregularcondensation.Thispracticeisnotmeanttoapplytobuildingswithsignificantlydifferentdesignsthanthosedescribedin1.3.TestMethodD5516causedthermallyinducedstrengthlossesinlaboratorysimulationswithinareasonablyshortperiod.Theenvironmentalconditionsusedinthelaboratory-activatedchemicalreactionsthatareconsideredtobesimilartothoseoccurringinthefield.Thisassumptionisthefundamentalbasisofthispractice.1.1Thispracticecoversproceduresforcalculatingbendingstrengthdesignadjustmentfactorsforfire-retardant-treatedplywoodroofsheathing.Themethodsutilizetheresultsofstrengthtestingafterexposureatelevatedtemperaturesandcomputer-generatedthermalloadprofilesreflectiveofexposuresencounteredinnormalserviceconditionsinawidevarietyofcontinentalUnitedStatesclimates.1.2Necessarily,commonlaboratorypracticeswereusedtodevelopthemethodsherein.Itisassumedthattheprocedureswillbeusedforfire-retardant-treatedplywoodinstalledusingappropriateconstructionpracticesrecommendedbythefireretardantchemicalmanufacturers,whichincludeavoidingexposuretoprecipitation,directwetting,orregularcondensation.1.3Theheatgains,solarloads,roofslopes,ventilationrates,andotherparametersusedinthispracticewerechosentoreflectcommonslopedroofdesigns.Thispracticeisapplicabletoroofsof3in12orsteeperslopes,toroofsdesignedwithventareasandventlocationsconformingtonationalstandardsofpractice,andtodesignsinwhichthebottomsideofthesheathingisexposedtoventilationair.Theseconditionsmaynotapplytosignificantlydifferentdesignsandthereforethispracticemaynotapplytosuchdesigns.1.4InformationandabriefdiscussionsupportingtheprovisionsofthispracticeareintheCommentaryintheappendix.Alarge,moredetailed,separateCommentaryisalsoavailablefromASTM.1.5Themethodologyinthispracticeisnotmeanttoaccountforallreportedinstancesoffire-retardantplywoodundergoingprematureheatdegradation.1.6Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.7Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
